Child Case
Child Cases allow you to link to existing Cases, create a new Case and automatically link to a current Case, or clone the existing Case and edit properties/categorisations. This can be useful to show associations between logged Cases, or to create a separate but related Case.
A new Child Case can be created from an existing Case by clicking on the New Child Case icon () on the top right of the Case screen.
This will clone the current Case and create a new Case without the Audit Logs (Case History) and Attachments from the original (Parent) Case, the attachments have to be added manually if they are required for the Child Case.
All information and categories on the Case Details tab and Requestor's details on the Clients Details tab from the Case (Parent) you clone will be shown in the new Case (Child). The Children tab of the Parent and Child Cases will show the relationship between these Cases.
Before saving the new Child Case ensure that the Due Date has been set to allow the required time for the Case to be resolved. Due to the Case being cloned the Priority drop-down value will not be able to adjust the Due Date as it does with an existing Case. Read the below Note: for more information.
Note: Because the Child Case has just been created and not yet saved, it doesn't exist within the database. When you change the Priority on an existing Case, versaSRS will prompt you to update the Due Date because it recognises the Priority is different from the existing value in the database, thus the Due Date is likely incorrect for that Priority. If the Case isn't saved the Priority selection cannot technically be changed as it does not exist yet and therefore has no existing value in the database.
